The name "support girder crane" means that the crane rests on a crane track (as opposed to an overhead crane that is suspended). As a rule, a steel square or rail is used as a crane track, which in turn determines the number of ribs – the support crane has two ribs (suspended cranes use 1 rib or none at all).
