The URB-25 drilling rig is designed for drilling and repairing industrial water supply wells, as well as for the construction of technical wells, including degassing, ventilation, water-reducing wells and wells for laying communications in underground mining, wells for hydraulic extraction and underground leaching.

The URB-25 is a lightweight and simplified version of the URB-40 rotary drilling rig. Due to the use of structural elements from the URB-40 drilling rig in the base of the URB-25 drilling rig, the URB-25 has improved performance and greater operating efficiency compared to rotary installations of the URB-3A3 (1BA-15) type.
