Medium sand or medium–sized sand is a natural material formed during the destruction of sedimentary rocks with a magnitude modulus of no more than 2.5.

According to GOST, the following characteristics are defined for sand of medium fraction:
- particle sizes 2-2.5 units in modulus of size
- bulk density in the range of 1563-1603 kg/m3
- the content of pulverized and clay particles is 2.5-3%

Sand of this fraction is used for construction work in cement mortars, including when pouring the foundation.
